Borough Outscore Oaks!
Jessica Howell reports on the Ladies returning to winning ways.
Fired up from their loss a few weeks ago on their last outing, Penryn Ladies pulled a cracking performance out of the bag to defeat Plymstock Albion Oaks 44-10.
In the first half, Penryn were dominant. With a few forward phases to set the ball as soon as it was passed out, the back line worked their magic and sent Nicky Watts over the tryline in the first ten minutes. A series of tries followed as Penryn's backs became unstoppable.
However, this truly was a game of two halves as Plymstock came out fighting in the second half. They played hard and tested Penryn's defence. Oaks' strong forward pack could not be stopped once they got within five metres of the line, and the Ladies in green and gold scored two fantastic team tries.
Special mention goes to forward of the match Kayleigh Cresswell for her strong running and support play. Back of the match was Ro Gomez, playing her first match for Penryn out of position. Credit to Ro who played a strong and attacking game and, although she didn't get on the scoreboard herself, set up several of the team's tries.
Thank you to Plymstock for coming down to us and for the supporters who cheered us on.
